About me & art therapy

I am Margarita Stehle

A Wiesbaden-based art therapist with a pedagogical background and a further education in art therapy. I’m from Russia and have been living in Germany since 2018. I started my private practice in 2021. I am currently studying Psychology and Psychotherapy at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. As a practising therapist, taking part in group and individual supervision, collegial discussions and receiving the benefits of therapy myself, gives me a deep understanding of healing mechanisms and allows me to help my clients professionally and effectively.

The principles of my work

Helping people is my passion. To accomplish this, the corners stones of my practice are integrity and professionalism. Naturally, all information shared during or in relation to a session remains confidential. Therapeutic interventions are based on the principle of non-maleficence and are conducted according to rules and protocols that prevent re-traumatisation and unnecessary stress. I use a psychodynamic and client-centred approach, which means that we focus on the resourceful and developmental side of the personality. My personal attitude towards all my clients remains empathic and supportive, regardless of the issues discussed, sexual orientation, political views, nation and race or relationship models of my clients.

Art therapy works at a deep subconscious level where our emotions are generated.

Creating art is a safe and easy way to release accumulated stress and suppressed feelings, either with or without verbalising and becoming aware of them. This form of therapy allows clients to decompress and reduce unnecessary mental load. The careful guidance of an experienced art therapist supports this process.

Art therapy also helps people access their most resourceful sides, reaching and releasing their creative centre, where mental strength and motivation comes from. Thus, both as an adjunct to psychotherapy and as a stand-alone method, art therapy enables personal growth and development.
